DOMAINNAME
A domain name is a unique address on the internet. Every website has a domain name that no one else has. This is due to the unique combination of numbers and letters followed by an extension (after the dot). For the latter, think of .nl, .eu or .com.
Your domain name determines how you can request, manage, transfer, pledge and claim the rights to it. Domain names often contain the brand name of a company or product and therefore domain law can also be influenced by trademark law.
Your domain name is actually similar to a unique street address. In some cases, even a street address can be registered as a domain name, trade name and trademark. Take Sesame Street, Place de la Bourse or Broadway, for example.
Domain name law and the domain name are almost always linked to trade names and trademark law. In addition, the sale or purchase of the domain name is also part of the complete spectrum. For example, when developing a new brand, it is good to investigate in advance whether the brand is also available as a domain name and in which (usable) extensions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a good domain name?
A good domain name must meet a few requirements; Your domain name must not be contrary to public order or morality. This means that you should not register an inappropriate domain name. A domain name consists of letters, numbers and possibly a hyphen and a closing extension.
Which extensions do I choose?
You can choose that all by yourself. This can be a .nl extension, but also a .info extension, a .come extension or a .biz extension. Are you not planning to take your business across the border? Then a .nl domain name is the most obvious choice. You can register other extensions to prevent others from doing this. You can then link this to the main domain.
My domain name is already registered. What now?
You then have three options. You can choose to register an alternative domain name. Option two is to see if there is another extension that is available. Finally, you can choose to check the SIDN website to see exactly who registered your domain name. Perhaps the domain name is for sale. Marcam can help you mediate a purchase while guaranteeing the anonymity of the buyer.
Can I register more than one domain name?
Yes, you can. Keep in mind that every domain name you register costs money. So the more domain names you register, the more money you have to pay for these domains. You can no longer register a domain name that is already owned by someone else. You can only buy this from the current owner of the domain.
Can I register a domain name without using it?
Yes, you can. There are many entrepreneurs who already register the domain name of their new company or activity while they do not yet have a website. In addition, there are many entrepreneurs who register additional domain names. For example, have you bouwvakkerinhuren.nl registered the domain name and do you not want other entrepreneurs to register similar domain names as bouwvakker-inhuren.nl or eenbouwvakkerinhuren.nl? Then you can record this. By registering additional domain names, you can protect your company from competition.
